ANNUAL WATERWORKS INFORMATION

Year:  2015

Name of Municipality: Village of Tuxford

Date:

WATERWORKS RATE POLICY

At the Regular Council meeting in December of 2013, Council passed a bylaw to fix the rates to be charged for the use and consumption of water and to fix the rates to be charged for the use of the sewer.

1. That the minimum charge for water be set at $145.00 per every three months, this charge will cover the usage of 7500 gallons and that for each 1,000 gallons used thereafter the additional charge for this usage be calculated at $14.76 per 1,000 gallons.

2.  That the charge for water obtained from the pipe stand be set at $14.76 per 1,000 gallons.

 3.  These rates to take effect January 1 2015.

The objective of the Waterworks rate policy is that we are finding most of our Waterworks infrastructure is getting past its life expectancy. We are currently in the planning process to replacing our Waterworks infrastructure.

WATERWORKS CAPITAL INVESTMENT STRATEGY

The Villageof Tuxford is in communication with the Buffalo Poound Community Council to compile a plan of viable options for upgrading the current system within Tuxfod and if any other user groups would benefit from having joint services.

To cover the costs of future waterworks infrastructure maintenance and replacements, Council will likely need to undertake in the future a combination of increasing water rates to build the waterworks reserves.
